X-Plane is one of the best flight simulators out there but it’s even better when you add real life flight controls to your X-Plane setup.

Although you can add anything from Radio Panels to Rudder Pedals, most people start out by adding a flight joystick to X-Plane.

Windows users can use any joystick with X Plane but Mac users have to be a bit more careful.

How To Configure a Joystick for X-Plane

Whichever joystick you choose, it has to be specifically configured for use with X-Plane.

X-Plane will automatically detect your joystick when you connect it but you have to configure it manually from the Settings Menu.

When you configure it for the first time, we recommend giving your setup a name because different planes require different setups.

    Have you tried the A320 joysticks from Thrustmaster? I have to change my laptop – coz my old i5 with 4GB of RAM does NOT run X-Pln11 – and I’m considering either a MacBook Pro, or an iMac but there seems not be a lack of Mac compatible joysticks… And the S52 has been replaced by the S56 so logic would dictate that the later would be compatible either… just sometimes logic goes out the window(s) ;).
