Orico has released a new high capacity, external SSD drive designed for extending the storage space of your Mac and specifically the new M4 Mac Mini.
Although you can add extra internal SSD space to the Mac Mini when you purchase it, it’s expensive and the MiniMate offers a much cheaper, flexible alternative that works with all Macs.
The Orico MiniMate can be used with any Mac although it’s been designed mainly to complement the new M4 Mac Mini M4.
This compact design (12.7 cm x 12.7cm) has a distinctly Mac Mini aesthetic and although it doesn’t have a Thunderbolt port, the USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 connection supports transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps with Macs.
The Orico MiniMate is available in various storage capacities, including 3TB, 5TB, 6TB, and 8TB.
Orico told us that some capacities are still in production but are expected to go on sale by December 13th on Amazon.
Pricing of the Orico Minimate will be as follows:
- 512GB $139.99
- 1TB $199.99
- 2TB $279.99
- 4TB $499.99
- 8TB $999.99
At the moment, there is availability for some storage sizes only on the Orico website.
We hope to bring you a full review of the Orico MiniMate soon.
