Apple Announces macOS Sequoia: New Apple Intelligence AI & iPhone Controls

Apple has announced the new version of macOS version 15 will be called Sequoia at its annual WWDC. The new version of macOS was previewed at the WWDC and is named after the national park of the same name in the Sierra Nevada.

Apple are promoting macOS Sequoia with the tagline “Sharp as a Mac”

New features in macOS Sequoia are focused around greater productivity and highlights include:

  • Integration with Apple Intelligence which enhances Siri with ChatGPT. This will allow you to switch between Siri based commands and chats with OpenAI’s ChatGPT AI assistant. This will also be integrated with word processing software such as Pages, Mail and Notes to rewrite and draft documents. Note that this feature will only be available for Apple Silicon Macs, not Intel Macs.

  • Passwords which is a new cross platform secure password management solution.

  • Presenter Preview mode for video conferencing so that you can Preview what participants will see before you go live.
  • A new improved version of the Game Porting Toolkit which is an increasingly popular way to play Windows games on a Mac.
  • Window tiling which is similar to the way you can neatly snap open windows together in Microsoft Windows. This is something long overdue in macOS has been available in Windows for many years already.
