WiseFax is a lightweight cloud, Mac compatible fax service that lets you send and receive faxes from a Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad, or Android device without needing a fax machine or phone line.
Unlike business-focused online fax platforms such as RingCentral Fax, WiseFax is aimed more at occasional users who need to send a fax quickly without committing to an expensive monthly plan.
It offers both pay-as-you-go faxing and subscription plans, making it flexible for casual users, although regular fax users will usually find better value elsewhere.
WiseFax works entirely in the cloud and includes desktop apps for macOS and Windows along with mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android.
On Mac, WiseFax supports macOS 10.13 High Sierra and later, including Apple Silicon Macs.

WiseFax Pricing
WiseFax currently offers two ways to use the service:
Pay-As-You-Go Faxing
If you only need to send a fax occasionally, you can buy fax tokens individually.
Pricing starts at around $0.99 per token, although the number of tokens required depends on the destination country and number of pages.
For example:
- Faxing within the US or Canada may only require one token
- International faxes can require multiple tokens
- Longer documents may increase the token cost
One downside is that WiseFax does not publish a full international pricing table, so you only see the final cost immediately before sending the fax.
The pay-as-you-go option only allows sending faxes – not receiving them.
WiseFax Subscription Plans
For regular use, WiseFax also offers subscription plans that include a dedicated fax number and inbound faxing.
At the time of writing, plans start at approximately:
- $8 per month
- $4.25 per week
Subscriptions include:
- A free fax number
- Receiving up to 300 faxes per month
- Around 10 outgoing fax tokens monthly
The low number of included outgoing faxes means WiseFax is not particularly cost-effective for businesses or heavy fax users.
If you regularly send documents, services such as RingCentral Fax or Dropbox Fax generally provide much better value.
WiseFax accepts major debit cards, credit cards, and PayPal.
There is currently no free trial.

Features
WiseFax includes a surprisingly good range of features considering its simplicity.

WiseFax allows you to:

- Scan documents using your phone camera
The built-in image enhancement tools can also improve scan quality by automatically detecting page edges and cleaning up imperfections.

This makes it possible to send and receive faxes directly from your email inbox without opening the app.
International Faxing
WiseFax supports faxing to more than 240 countries worldwide, which is useful for international business or legal documents.
File Format Support
WiseFax supports a wide range of file formats including:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Apple Pages
- Apple Numbers
- OpenOffice documents

- PNG
You can also fax images and scans captured directly from mobile devices.
Reliability & Performance
One area where WiseFax performs reasonably well is reliability.
The service includes:
- Automatic retry attempts if a fax fails
- Delivery tracking
- Transmission confirmations
In testing, faxes were generally delivered successfully, although confirmation emails could sometimes take several minutes to arrive.
This is still better than many low-cost online fax services, which often provide little or no confirmation that documents were successfully delivered.
For occasional use, WiseFax is dependable enough for sending contracts, forms, and official documents.
Security & Privacy
WiseFax states that documents and personal data are securely stored on its servers and transmitted using HTTPS connections.
However, the company provides relatively little technical detail regarding:
- End-to-end encryption
- Data retention policies
- Compliance certifications
- Security infrastructure
For most personal use this may not be an issue, but businesses handling sensitive legal, medical, or financial documents may prefer a service with clearer security standards and compliance information.
Enterprise-focused providers such as RingCentral Fax generally offer more transparent security and compliance features. faxes securely on the WiseFax portal.

WiseFax is best suited to people who:
