Apple has announced new 13 and 15 inch M3 MacBook Airs with better support for multiple displays and enhanced WiFi 6E.
Apple claims the new models are up to 60% faster than the original M1 MacBook Air and up to 13 times faster than the last Intel MacBook Air.
One of the big improvements to these base model M3 chip models is support for up to two 5K external displays when the lid is closed.
This effectively means you could run two Apple Studio Displays with the new M3 MacBook Airs.
Previously, base model M1, M2 and M3 chip Macs could only support one external display and so this is a long awaited improvement.
Other enhancements to the new M3 MacBook Airs are:
- An AV1 decode engine for more efficient and higher quality streaming from services such as Netflix and YouTube
- Voice Isolation and Wide Spectrum microphone modes for enhanced audio quality in video calls
- A more fingerprint resistant Midnight color chassis although Starlight, Space Grey and Silver are also available
- Up to 18 hours of battery life
Pre-orders start from today with the first orders expected to be delivered by Friday March 8th.
