Diablo Immortal is not available for Macs but here we explain how to play it on both Intel and Apple Silicon models.
Diablo Immortal is a popular Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) that was released on 2nd of June 2022 by Blizzard Entertainment and NetEase on Android, iOS and also open beta on PC.
Although there are various ways to play Diablo 4 on a Mac, there are less options for Diablo Immortal but you can still play it with a few workarounds.
It’s important to be aware that there are two versions of the game – the Windows version and mobile one.
It’s highly advisable to play the Windows version on a Mac because the mobile version doesn’t play well on desktops precisely because it’s designed to be played on a mobile.
With this in mind, here are the options available to you.
Quick Navigation
1. Using Parallels Desktop
Parallels Desktop is a virtualization software that allows you to run Windows on a Mac and is by far the best way to to play Diablo Immortal on any Mac.
This allows you to play the Windows version of the game which plays much better on a Mac compared to trying to run the mobile version with an emulator.
Although other virtual machines are available, Parallels is the only one we’ve managed to get Diablo Immortal working in macOS.
Here’s how to set it up:
Step 1: Install Parallels Desktop
- Download the free trial of Parallels. It does require a subscription after the trial has ended but you can test it out for free.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to install Windows 11 using Parallels on your Mac. If you have any problems, check out our review of it or watch us installing it below.
Step 2: Install the Windows Version of Diablo Immortal
- Using Windows 11 in Parallels, download the PC version of Diablo Immortal directly from Blizzard.
You then simply follow the setup instructions to use the Blizzard client to install Diablo Immortal on your Mac.
However, there’s no Mac version of Diablo Immortal so you need to use additional software to play Diablo Immortal on a Mac.
2. Using Boot Camp (Intel Macs Only)
Boot Camp is an alternative for Intel-based Macs only. It allows you to install Windows on your Mac and play Diablo Immortal via the official PC version.
Note: Boot Camp is not available on Apple Silicon Macs so this option does not work with M-series Macs.
Here’s how to play Diablo Immortal using Boot Camp:
Step 1: Install Windows with Boot Camp
- Open the Boot Camp Assistant (pre-installed on your Mac).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to partition your disk and install Windows on a separate section of your drive.
- Once Windows is installed, boot into Windows by holding down the “Option” key while your Mac starts up.
Step 2: Download and Install Diablo Immortal
- Install the Blizzard Battle.net client on Windows.
- Download Diablo Immortal from the Battle.net store and start playing.
3. Using BlueStacks
BlueStacks is an Android emulator that allows you to run Android apps and games on macOS.
It’s optimized for both Intel and Apple Silicon chips, making it an ideal solution to play mobile only games.
However, we only recommend this option as a last resort as the controls are designed for mobile and playing it on a Mac desktop is not easy.
Here’s how to play Diablo Immortal on Mac using BlueStacks:
Step 1: Download and Install BlueStacks
- Go to the official BlueStacks website and download the version compatible with your Mac (Intel or Apple Silicon).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install BlueStacks.
Step 2: Set Up BlueStacks
- Launch BlueStacks once it’s installed.
- Sign in with your Google account to access the Google Play Store. This step is required to download and play Android games.
Step 3: Install Diablo Immortal
- Open the Google Play Store within BlueStacks.
- Search for “Diablo Immortal” and click on “Install.”
- Once installed, launch the game directly from BlueStacks.
Step 4: Optimize Performance
- For Intel Macs: You might need to adjust the performance settings in BlueStacks, like lowering the resolution or tweaking the graphics settings for smoother gameplay.
- For Apple Silicon Macs: BlueStacks runs more efficiently on M-series chips, but you can still optimize by adjusting performance settings within the emulator.
