There’s another contender on the market for the best 5K display for Macs in the form of the new 5K Asus PA27JCV ProArt Monitor.
At just $799, it gives the heavily discounted and similarly priced Samsung ViewFinity S9 a run for its money as an alternative to the Apple Studio Display.
Key specs of the new Asus PA27JCV are:
- 27-inch display offers a 5120 x 2880 resolution
- Pixel Density of 218 ppi which is the sweet-spot for connecting to MacBook Pro Retina Displays
- Factory calibrated for Delta E<2 color accuracy
- Coverage for 99% of the DCI-P3, 95% of Adobe RGB and 100% of sRGB color spaces
- ASUS Light Sync to automatically adjust to ambient lighting
- LuxPixel technology designed for anti-glare and gives a “Paper Like” effect
- Auto KVM switch so that you can control two connected Macs to the display with a single keyboard and mouse,
- Connectivity includes DisplayPort over USB-C with 96-watt Power Delivery, DisplayPort 1.4, USB hub with USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C and 3x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports. There’s only one HDMI port though.
- Support for HDR10 and is VESA DisplayHDR 500.
- Free Adobe Creative Cloud subscription in certain regions.
Currently, the Asus PA27JCV ProArt Monitor is available for $799 via Amazon and B&H Photo & Video but availability outside of the USA may be limited.
