The new M4 Mac Mini, iMac and MacBook Pros are now on sale with those people that have already pre-ordered, receiving them today.
Apple announced the new M4 chip back in June and the new M4 Macs in October so if you’re thinking of upgrading or getting one for Christmas, here’s a rundown of what’s available (there’s no M4 MacBook Air though if you were wondering).
Although they’ve all had their own individual modifications, one thing all the M4 Macs have in common is that they come with a minimum of 16GB of RAM.

M4 Mac Mini (Starts at $599)
The biggest change has been to the Mac Mini which has had its first proper redesign in 14 years measuring just 5 x 5 inches.
You can now add an M4 Pro chip with 14 or 16 core CPU to the Mac Mini which makes it the most powerful Mac Mini ever.
The base model now comes with 16GB of RAM compared to only 8GB previously.
There are no USB-A ports on it anymore either – it has 5 USB-C ports instead. If you buy one with an M4 Pro chip, you also get a Thunderbolt 5 port (although good luck finding any external hard drives or monitors that support the speeds it’s capable of yet!)
We think the starting price of $599 is sure to make this little powerhouse a big hit for Christmas.
M4 iMac (Starts at $1,299)
The biggest change in the new M4 iMac over the M3 iMac is the new Apple Silicon SoC chip which has a faster Neural Engine for the demands of AI processing.
The base model now comes with 16GB of RAM (unified memory) instead of 8GB in the previous model.
The iSight camera now supports 12 MegaPixels and Center Stage for tracking faces. It also supports Desk View and 1080p HD recording.
Pricing starts at $1,299.
M4 MacBook Pros (Starts at $1,599)
There are no changes in design to the M4 MacBook Pros compared to the M3 models but the base model has an extra USB-C port.
It also now has a better 12 Megapixel Center Stage camera and like all the M4 Macs, a minimum of 16GB RAM.
Apple claim the M4 models are around 3 times faster than the original M1 MacBook Pro with battery life now up to 24 hours.
The smallest M4 MacBook Pro starts at $1,599.
