While ExpressVPN consistently delivers smooth performance, especially for streaming, it doesn’t quite have the extensive global network of NordVPN. In tests, we found it slightly slower than NordVPN at around 15% of our normal surfing speed with download speeds of around 450 Mbit/s.

Verdict: For Mac users focused on speed, NordVPN takes the win thanks to NordLynx, but ExpressVPN isn’t far behind with its Lightway protocol. NordVPN edges it with locations covered too.
