BenQ has released a new MA series of displays that provide yet another alternative to the Apple Studio Display.
Although not aimed as much at creative professionals as the PD3225U is, the MA Series are heavily inspired by Apple aesthetics and have been designed with plug-and-play compatibility with Macs in mind.
They’re also priced far more competitively than the Apple Studio Display at just $459.99 for the 27-inch MA270U and $599.99 for the 32-inch MA320U.
Earlier this year, BenQ released the impressive design monitor the PD3225U (check out our full review here) which is firmly aimed at creative professionals as a direct competitor to Apple’s Studio Display.
Although it features out-of-the-box color calibration and Thunderbolt connectivity, it’s almost twice the price of the MA series at $1,099.00.
In BenQ’s press release, Houston Wei, senior director of BenQ North America said of the MA series:
Most external monitors struggle to replicate the exact colors displayed by MacBooks. The MA Series debuts our proprietary Mac color-tuning technology, ensuring MA Series monitors provide consistent, true-to-life Mac colors that perfectly match those of your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.
The MA series are aimed more at those that need an external display for work and school but many creative professionals on a budget will surely be tempted by it too.
Some of the highlights of the MA series monitors include:
- Elimination of color inconsistencies between your Mac and the display using BenQ Color Lab technology
- Nano Matte Panel to reduce glare
- Brightness and volume sync with MacBook keyboard controls
- BenQ Display Pilot 2 software with a one-click screen setup which is the same as used on the PD3225U and provides a much better experience than using an On Screen Display (OSD) to configure the monitor.
- Integration with Siri to activate Focus mode to bring the display closer to Focus Modes in macOS
- Connectivity includes two USB-C ports, two HDMI ports and USB-C to charge any MacBook connected to it.
Both displays are available from today on the BenQ Store as well as Amazon, BestBuy, B&H and Adorama. Other stores will follow according to BenQ.
So far we’ve only seen a demo of the new monitors from BenQ but we will bring you a full review as soon as we’ve tested it.
