The long awaited Ubisoft’s Anno 117: Pax Romana is now available on Steam and although there’s no version for macOS, the good news is it should eventually be playable on Macs via Crossover (see our full Crossover review here).
The game is only available on PC, PS5 and Xbox but you can already play Ubisoft’s older Anno 1800 game on a Mac with Crossover via Steam (see below).

Based on that evidence, it’s likely Anno 117: Pax Romana will eventually work with Crossover too as well as it is also available on Steam although it probably needs a developer update to run it.
At the moment, the Crossover compatibility page for Anno 117 indicates that the game “Installs, Will Not Run”.

We hoped that it might work with the Preview version of Crossover (a bit like Where Winds Meets does) but as yet we’ve had no luck with it.
A major version update to Crossover 26 is due (the last update was to Crossover 25.1.1 in September) but it probably won’t be released until early 2026.
The reason for this is that is that Crossover is based on Wine and the Apple Game Porting Toolkit (GPTK) both of which are due to be updated early next year.
What Is Crossover?
Crossover is an emulation layer that allows you to run Windows games on a Mac without actually having to install Windows.
For more on what it can do, check out our full Crossover review.
You can also download a free trial to test it for yourself.
Other Ways To Play Anno 117 on a Mac
It may also be possible to play Anno 117: Pax Romana using Whisky and the Apple Game Porting Toolkit which are based on the same technology as Crossover and both free although not as easy to setup and use.
Unfortunately, it won’t be playable via Xbox Cloud on a Mac as the game has not been released on it – at least not immediately.
In the meantime, enjoy the trailer for Anno 117 below if you haven’t already seen it.
