Amazon has finally launched an official Amazon Prime Video app for Mac so you can now watch Amazon Prime offline on a Mac.

The free Amazon Prime Video For Mac app supports downloading of videos to watch offline so that you watch Amazon Prime Video content without an internet connection.

The Amazon Prime Mac app also allows you to select the video streaming quality you want to use for both streams and downloads in Good, Better and Best settings.

The highest quality setting uses around 5.8GB per hour with downloads using around half of this per hour. Like other Amazon Prime apps, you can also watch content in full screen mode.

The Amazon Prime macOS app also supports macOS picture-in-picture mode and AirPlay so that you can stream content from your Mac to Apple devices such as AppleTV, iPad and iPhone and vice versa as introduced in macOS Monterey.

Other things you can do in the Amazon Prime Mac app include:

  • Purchase content
  • Manage subscriptions
  • Add subtitles
  • Manage parental controls
  • Manage other devices registered with your Amazon Prime account
  • Support for spatial audio in AirPods Pro/AirPods Max

You can download the free Amazon Prime app for Mac from the Mac App Store and it requires macOS Big Sur or later.
